This roofing contractor seemed honest at first but his paperwork was lacking the normal signatures, consumer rights, etc. He failed to start the project on time and repeatedly failed to show up for work as promised. He collected the contract amount up front, which is a violation of state law. He damaged bricks, walkways, plumbing, grass, and even his newly-installed drip molding. The project took over a month to complete. He then asked for another $7.000.00 for additional expenses. This type of billing requires exchange orders along the way. Eventually, he refused to pick up his check or communicate in any way. I found out he never paid his supplier for the materials used. That company recorded a mechanic's lien against my property for almost $8,000.00. They refused to agree to a reasonable solution and I was forced to hire an attorney to avoid foreclosure. This simple project turned out to be the homeowners biggest nightmare. Craig MacKenzie violated numerous sections of the California Business & Professions Code and his business practices are even worse. DO NOT USE CRAIG MACKENZIE ROOFING!
